Mashiko Pottery is made from clay excavated from the local town of Mashiko and fired over a long period of time.
Most of the products are painted by hand and poured by hand, and are heavier and thicker than porcelain products. and thicker than porcelain. Each piece is fired differently depending on the fire, temperature, and humidity in the kiln, resulting in different shades of color, glaze accumulation and dripping, and uneven surfaces. Due to the nature of the ware, pinholes (small holes) and iron powder may appear on the surface, but this is not a problem when using the ware. Please enjoy them as a characteristic of the glaze and its taste. Pottery has water absorbency. Soak the pot in rice brine or water before use to prevent stains and tea stains from sticking. After use, please remove stains as soon as possible and dry well before storing. |
