By Ito Jakuchu, Edo period, Tokyo National Museum In commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Jakuchu Ito, we have launched a new line of products featuring his works! All of them are our most popular products, and are only available at Convenience Store. We have a selection of popular works at affordable prices. Tenugui hand towels can be used for various purposes such as hand towels, kitchen cloths, portable handkerchiefs, and lunch box wrappers. The key point is that the cut edges are clean and not frayed. When all the pieces are spread out, they are about 1 meter in length, which gives you a sense of the power of the work. Jakuchu Ito Born in Kyoto between 1716 and 1800. He studied the Kano school while working for the family's wholesale store for produce, but at the age of 39, he handed over the reigns of the family to his younger brother, and began to devote himself to painting. While studying the ancient paintings of the Yuan and Ming dynasties and the decorative paintings of the Korin school of Japanese and Chinese painting, he also worked on sketching plants and animals, and was particularly good at painting chickens. He was called a "painter of strange ideas" because of his unique style of painting. His best-known works are his "dynamic plant paintings. |

伊藤若冲(いとう じゃくちゅう)
享保元〜寛政12年(1716〜1800)、京都生まれ。家業の青物問屋のかたわら狩野派を学ぶが、39歳で家督を弟へ譲り、絵に専念する生活に入る。元・明の古画と光琳派という和漢の装飾画を研究するかたわら、動植物の写生に勤め、特に鶏の絵を得意とした。独特の画風から「奇想の画家」と呼ばれた。代表作は『動植彩絵』。
