When emotional memories and [thoughts] stored in the mind are released the brush begins to move. Japanese painter Ayumi Matsuoka publishes his first book of paintings. Japanese painter Ayumi Matsuoka publishes her first book of paintings; Japanese painter Ayumi Matsuoka was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1978. After completing his doctoral studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, he has been active mainly in solo exhibitions at department stores, and has been awarded the grand prize at the Shouhaku Art Museum Flower and Bird Painting Exhibition and the Inten Exhibition Encouragement Prize, and is a remarkably active artist in the Inten Exhibition. He paints animals and plants with soft brush strokes, and sunfish is a particularly popular motif. Ms. Minako Kito, curator of the Meito Art Museum, who has been following Matsuoka's career from the beginning, has written the chapter commentaries, which are divided into six sections. The chapters are arranged in chronological order of production, and introduce Matsuoka's career to date, from his early works to his new folding screen paintings. The book also includes a discussion with sculptor Akio Omori, Japanese-style painter Ayana Otake, and Hiroshi Natsume of Natsume Art Shop, as well as a cross-industrial dialogue with Ayuko Suzuki, a women's marathon runner, and a look at Matsuoka's own appeal. 日本画家松岡歩は、1978年神奈川県横浜市に生まれ、東京藝術大学大学院博士課程を修了後、百貨店での個展を中心に活動し、松伯美術館花鳥画展大賞、院展奨励賞などを受賞し、目覚ましい活躍をしている院展の作家。
やわらかい筆致で動物や植物を描き、とくにマンボウは人気のモチーフ。当初より松岡氏の画業を見続けてきた名都美術館学芸員の鬼頭美奈子氏が章解説を執筆、6つの章立てで構成。始、生、絆、想、楽、展というテーマを立てて作品を振り分け、各章内は制作年順に並べ、初期の作品から新作の屏風絵まで、これまでの画業を紹介。また、彫刻家大森暁生氏、日本画家大竹彩奈氏、夏目美術店の夏目洋史氏との座談会、女子マラソンランナー鈴木亜由子氏との異業種対談も掲載し、松岡氏自身の魅力にも迫る。
