| [2022 New Items] PIJAK BUMI, a low-tech sneaker made in Indonesia, is back in stock this year. They come in two colors: beige, which is close to off-white, and gray, which is closer to charcoal. The sole rarely peels off because of the vulcanized manufacturing method, and one of the features of these sneakers is that they are durable and comfortable to wear. They can be worn with denim or work pants for a full casual look, or with a long skirt for a more relaxed look. These sneakers come in a variety of colors. What is vulcanizing method*? A manufacturing method used to crimp the material of the upper and the rubber material of the sole. A mixture of raw rubber and sulfur is heated and cured at the right time to crimp the upper and sole, resulting in a strong sole. This is a very time-consuming and costly process that involves heating the sole for more than one hour at more than 100 degrees Celsius and exposing it to the wind of a large fan for a long period of time to cool it down. However, the low-tech texture and high durability of the sole, which can only be achieved by vulcanizing, still have many fans, and manufacturers are putting a lot of effort into production and PR so that this technology will never be discontinued. お色は程よい塩梅のオフホワイトに近いベージュとチャコール寄りのグレーの2色。
バルカナイズド製法で作られている為、ソールがはがれることが殆どなく、丈夫で履き心地が良いことが特徴の1つです。
カジュアル感を全面に出しデニムやワーク系パンツと合わせてもよし、抜け感を出しつつロングスカートと合わせてもよし。様々な色を持つスニーカーになります。
バルカナイズ製法とは・・・
アッパーの素材とソールのゴムの素材を圧着させる為の製法。
生ゴムと硫黄を混ぜたものに熱を加え硬化させるタイミングで、アッパーとソールを圧着することにより、強度の高いソールが出来上がります。
100度以上の釜で1時間以上加熱した上、冷ますために長時間大型扇風機の風に晒したりと、大変手間とコストがかかる製法です。
しかしバルカナイズでしか出せないローテクの風合いやソールの耐久性の高さは今でもファンが多く、メーカー側もこの技術を絶やすことのないよう、生産やPRに力を入れております。
