Description
[span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Straw potsherds are woven one by one by skilled straw craftsmen. [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Straw potsherds made of straw are individually woven by straw craftsmen in the Tohoku region. The flat profile of the potsherd, which is not overly bulky, gives it a surprisingly neat impression. The donut shape of the straw potsherds also stabilizes pots with round bottoms. [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Straw work using straw is a technique traditionally inherited by the Japanese, whose staple food is rice. [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]On the other hand, in recent years, the number of craftsmen who carry on the art of straw crafts has been decreasing, and we see only shimekodori decorations for the New Year. [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Straw pots and pans are made of straw from the land and are made in Japan from domestic materials. [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Why not incorporate Japanese straw work, which has been handed down since ancient times, into your everyday life and not just for New Year's? [span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";mso-ascii-font-family:Century; mso-hansi-font-family:Century"]Straw potsherds are especially suitable for Nambu ironware. Use it by laying it on Nambu iron kettles, ironware frying pans, and iron pots. In the season of hot pots, it can also be used with earthenware pots and pans.
