Description
Each piece is carefully crafted by artisans in Aizu Wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, famous for its historical stage and lacquerware production area. Lacquerware made of natural wood has a longer history than ceramics. The main feature of lacquerware made of natural wood is that it is light and thin, but does not easily transfer heat to the hand. The natural wood for the wood base is made from carefully selected corks (sen) from Hokkaido, grown in the severe cold. The shape is a smooth, curved beauty that fits comfortably in the hand. The shape of the bowl is a feather warp that spreads outward to make it easy to drink soup, with a moderately thin mouth and a high base that is comfortable for the fingers, making it even easier to hold. It is the size of a standard soup bowl, but it is also functional and has an appearance suitable for a standard soup bowl. The traditional lacquered color of the bowls not only enhances the taste and warmth of the food, but also makes the bowls more colorful as they are used. The color of the traditional lacquer coating not only enhances the taste and warmth of the food, but also allows you to enjoy the unique aging process of the lacquerware as it becomes more colorful and vivid as you use it. The bottom of the bowl is engraved with a motif of the Japanese greeting "Itadakimasu" or "Gochisosama" before and after a meal to express gratitude to the food and the person who prepared the dish. |
