This kyusu is handmade in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, the city of copperware, one by one using traditional Japanese techniques. This kyusu is made by wax casting, which is considered to be the most precise casting method among the many casting methods. The kyusu is delivered in a paulownia wood box with a certificate of quality and maker.

 

Surrounded by mountains on all sides, Gokayama is home to the 400 year old Gassho-zukuri buildings that line the villages of Aikura and Suganuma. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has been reproduced in gold and silver maki-e. The copper lid knob is made in the Gassho-zukuri style.

 

The inside of the kyusu has been coated with a self cleaning coating for tableware, which is non-stick and can be easily wiped off.
