Description
*Portfolio Kazumasa Suda [anonymous Men mad Women:Tokyo 1976-78]* Showa 51-53 (1976-1978) This is a portfolio of eight black-and-white works printed in collotype, which has become a rare medium of expression in the world. These 8 works were selected from [Unknown Men and Women: Tokyo 1976-78], which was serialized in the November issue of Camera Mainichi in 1978, and from a solo exhibition of the same title held at Shinjuku Nikon Salon and Ginza Nikon Salon in the same year. *What is collotype*? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype expresses them with continuous gradation, which makes it possible to express them with fine detail that is closer to the real thing, as in a photograph. Kazumasa Suda Born in Tokyo, Japan from 1940 to 2019. From 1967 (Showa 42), he worked as an exclusive photographer for the theater troupe "Ceiling Plank" led by Shuji Terayama. Since then, he has been active as a freelance photographer, and won the 16th Ken Domon Award in 1997 for his photo collection [Memory of Human Beings]. His representative works include "Minyo Yamakawa" and "Kazashikaden. The *Mini Portfolio Series is a series that focuses on size and set contents so that users can easily enjoy photographic works with the expressive power that only Collotype can offer. Each set contains 8 x 10" sheets of collotype prints, which can be viewed one by one or framed for interior decoration. |
