Description
| Each vessel is individually hand-painted. The artisan's technique has been cultivated over many years, and the brush strokes are done with a spontaneous touch. The heron is said to be a messenger of the gods, and is also a bird of good omen as it opens the way to the future. Hasami-yaki is ceramics produced in Hasami-cho, Higashisonogi-gun, Nagasaki Prefecture. Hasami-cho in Nagasaki Prefecture is adjacent to Arita-cho in Saga Prefecture, and like Arita-yaki, Hasami-yaki ceramics have a tradition of over 400 years. |
