〜What is "Shirayuki" cherry?
This variety was cultivated on the banks of the Arakawa River in Ekita Village (now Adachi-ku, Tokyo), Tokyo Prefecture. This cherry tree was not listed in the ledger when 78 varieties were planted on the Arakawa bank in 1886, but was discovered and named by Gaku Miyoshi on April 14, 1909. It is characterized by the presence of hairs on the petioles and petioles, as well as large, circular bracts.
