This series is based on the Heian cherry blossom motif!
〜What is Heian Cherry Blossom?
In the Heian period (794-1192), aristocrats gradually came to love cherry blossoms as the representative flower of spring. One of the reasons for this is thought to have been the abolition of the Japanese envoys to the Tang Dynasty in 894. Perhaps the abolition of the Japanese envoys to the Tang Dynasty in 894 may have been an opportunity for Japanese people to become more familiar with the ancient Japanese cherry blossom, rather than the plum tree, which was introduced from China. The Tale of Genji, a masterpiece of the mid-Heian period, describes a banquet held under the cherry blossoms, and the Kokin Waka Shu, a collection of poems compiled in the early Heian period, contains many poems about cherry blossoms as spring poems. It can be seen that cherry blossoms came to be associated with "the flower symbolizing spring" for the aristocrats of the time.
