The book is composed of photographs and stories of the animals from birth until they stand on their own. The text by poet Ryo Kisaka, who has been featured in many textbooks, conveys the lively lives of the baby animals. The illustration pages introduce detailed data and ecology. The illustrations explain things that are difficult to show in photographs. By comparing each volume, you can gain a deeper understanding of the animals, such as the differences in the state of upbringing at birth and the speed of growth. The [Let's compare!] page at the end of the book allows students to use the information directly in the classroom. The fourth volume, "Anteaters," introduces the growth of a baby anteater that spends about one year on its mother's back after birth. |
