Description
This is a gift beckoning cat with a box. [Recommended use] Gift Gifts Souvenirs The beckoning cat has long been used as a good-luck charm to bring prosperity to business, happiness to the family, and the arrival of many customers. [History of Manekineko] Although wild wild cats have inhabited Japan since ancient times, there were no domestic cats as pets as we know them today. Cats as domesticated cats first came to Japan in the Nara period (710-794). They came to Japan with Buddhism from China. It is said that they were carried on ships to protect Buddhist scriptures and books from damage by rats. There are ancient descriptions of domesticated cats in The Pillow Book and The Tale of Genji, suggesting that domesticated cats were familiar to people at least as early as the Heian period (794-1185). [Manekineko with its left hand raised] A beckoning cat with its left hand raised is a cat that [invites people in]. For this reason, they are often placed in restaurants, service businesses, and other establishments that want many customers to come. [Manekineko with raised right hand] A beckoning cat with its right hand raised is a [blessing] cat. The word "blessing" here mainly refers to luck in money. It is the perfect beckoning cat for those who wish to increase their money and luck! [Click here to see the list of Tokoname beckoning cats.
