[This is a collection of works by Rikako Kawauchi, an artist who has garnered attention as the winner of the highest award at the VOCA Exhibition 2022. Last year, he was selected as a finalist for the TERRADA ART AWARD 2021, and this year he won the VOCA Award, the highest award at the VOCA Exhibition 2022. His expressive "lines" that give the viewer a sense of spatial depth, begin with drawings, then move on to paintings in which he scratches through thick layers of oil paint, and then to sculptural spatial expressions such as wire on canvas and three-dimensional works using rubber tubes, neon tubes, clay, and other materials. Her motifs are diverse, including animals from the mythical world of Claude Lévi-Strauss's Mythological Logic, based on the theme of her childhood discomfort with food and the body. This is his second book of drawings, following [drawings](WAITINGROOM) published in 2020. In addition to drawings, the book includes paintings and sculptures, and contains approximately 150 works from 2014 to the latest. The paintings have a strong, scratchy touch and layers of paint that overwhelm the viewer with their raw power. The artist also paid close attention to the saturation of the painting, which also uses a variety of fluorescent colors, to reproduce the colors. The book is a compilation of the artist's work, including an essay by Mika Kuraya that focuses on the artist's view of the body from various perspectives, and an up-to-date interview covering the artist's childhood and future development.
