This 70cm size furoshiki is a collaboration of Tukiyomi design and mashu with Art Saratetsu, a historic dyeing factory in Tokyo established in 1906. The geometric patterns of Edo taste, which have been passed down from generation to generation and kept carefully for many years, were collected and redesigned into a new, more ornate shape. At first glance, each pattern looks commonplace, but there is a subtle change in the expression of details. I tried to create two color schemes, one with a traditional pattern but a vivid color scheme, and the other with a subtle change in the color of the raw material to create a color scheme with depth. It is also perfect as a substitute for a bag when you go out with kimono using the furoshiki ring.

In a wooden Gassho-zukuri factory that has been in Kyoto for 110 years, craftsmen continue to dye each furoshiki carefully, one by one, using the traditional technique of hand-dyeing.
