What is Nippon Meiseki?
Stones produced in various regions of Japan and registered on the list of famous stones according to the regulations set by the Association. The list is based on the regulations set by the Association, Its value is recognized. A gemstone is identified by several criteria, depending on the object. *Originally from a region with culturally significant universal value. *The stone itself has historical significance. *Items with value that should be enhanced due to rarity, etc. *Geologically or mineralogically attractive. *Things that have become or may become difficult to preserve for future generations. *They should be widely disseminated and recognized for their existence. *Symbolizing outstanding natural beauty, a natural phenomenon of aesthetic importance, or a place of origin. These are the requirements for a representative stone recognized by the Association. The significance and value of a stone is enhanced when it is given the title of "famous stone," rather than just being a stone or a specialty product. There are also stones whose charms have yet to be recognized, and beautiful stones that have fallen into obscurity with the passage of time. By certifying Japanese stones as "Meiseki" stones, they are now receiving new recognition. |
