Description
"PRIERE--Prayer Long-awaited new work, the first in 10 years, born in the wake of the Corona disaster; two titles published simultaneously In early 2020, a new type of coronavirus caused a worldwide outbreak of infection, forcing human beings to drastically reduce contact with others and to confine themselves to limited spaces such as their homes. Mikiya Takimoto, who has lived with photography, has also had to stop all commercial shoots and advertising work, which are usually done with large groups of people, and is no longer able to travel around the world and shoot with large equipment to create his work. At that time, Takimoto happened to come across a small rape blossom blooming on a riverbank and felt the same natural power as the powerful life force of the earth as a planet, which he had seen in the uninhabitable remote areas he had photographed, and started photographing wild flowers and grasses. I found the moment of continuous life in familiar flowers and plants, and spent three years exploring the "microcosm" that breathes inside them, and completed the LUMIERE (French for "light") series. In the fall of 2020, Takimoto participated in the International Photography Festival in Kyoto, Japan. He was confronted with the architecture and gardens of temples filled with serenity, where he learned that everything melds perfectly and does not interfere with each other. There, he felt himself connected to the flow of time that has continued from hundreds or thousands of years ago to the present, and he walked around various temples and photographed them, compiling a series of PRIERE (French for "prayer"). The life of the world is a series of prayers. This is Mikiya Takimoto's first new photo book in about 10 years, which reminds us of the cycle of life and the coexistence of living creatures and the planet Earth. *The first E in PRIERE is E with Axan *Grave [Japanese/English] |
