Description
"In early 2020, a new coronavirus that caused a worldwide explosion of infections forced humanity to drastically reduce contact with others and to confine themselves to confined spaces. Mikiya Takimoto, who has lived with photography, has also had to stop working across the board, and is no longer able to create the kind of work he used to do, which involved flying around the world and using large equipment to take photographs. At that time, Takimoto happened to come across a small rape blossom blooming on a riverbank and felt the same natural power as the powerful life force of the earth as a planet, which he had seen in the uninhabitable remote areas he had photographed, and began photographing wild flowers and grasses. I found the moment of continuous life in familiar flowers and plants, and spent three years exploring the "microcosm" that breathes inside them, and completed the LUMIERE (French for "light") series. In the fall of 2020, Takimoto participated in the International Photography Festival in Kyoto, Japan. He was confronted with the architecture and gardens of temples filled with serenity, where he learned that everything melds perfectly and does not interfere with each other. There, he felt himself connected to the flow of time that has continued from hundreds or thousands of years ago to the present, and he walked around various temples and photographed them, compiling the PRI_RE (French for "prayer") series. *The first "E" in PRIERE is an E with an Aksan*grave. written in both Japanese and English |
