The red base color and the light beige parts have an austere, brownish tinge to them, giving a sense of calmness to this multi-colored kilim. The right side is 105 cm long and the left side is 108 cm long. Sumac weaving is an Iranian kilim weaving technique. 刺繍のように細かな文様が全面に施された美しいスマック織りのキリム。赤を基調に薄ベージュの部分は茶渋がかったような渋みがあって多色使いながら落ち着きもあります。一目一目の模様をじっくり眺めて味わえるキリムでたいへん上質感があります。スマック織りは裏面に模様の糸を渡してあるので片面使いのキリムになります。右端で長さ105センチ、左端で長さ108センチと長さに少し差がございます。
スマック織りとは、イランのキリムの織り方の技法です。生地は刺繍のような仕上がりですが、これは後から刺したものではなく、土台の縦糸と横糸の上にもう一本横糸を絡めるように巻き込んで織っていく高度なテクニックで、生地を二重に織るため通常の平織りのキリムより倍の手間ひまが掛かる分高価になりますが、非常に堅固で丈夫、また普通より細かなデザインを描けるという長所がありますので、価格以上の価値を感じて頂けるキリムです。
