Rubies, sapphires, garnets ....... You can easily find the minerals and gemstones you've always dreamed of in the most remote places, such as riversides and seaside areas!

This is a brand-new guidebook for finding stones, which introduces colorful minerals* and gemstones found by the water in their original state for easy identification in the field.
In 2018, the children's edition of this very popular series, the first three volumes of which have been in repeated print runs, "The Illustrated Guidebook of Beautiful Stones by the River and by the Sea for Children to Search for" was released. Since its publication, it has gone through more editions than the parent book and has been loved not only by children but also by adult readers.
However, six years have passed since its publication, and more spots in riverside and seaside areas have changed, so we have decided to produce a revised edition with the latest information.

In the revised edition, we have almost completely redesigned the spots where you can find stones. Many of the photographs in the Mineral Guide have been replaced with new, easier-to-understand ones.
In addition to 40 minerals, the largest number in the series, the book introduces 20 easy-to-visit spots throughout Japan where you can take your children to observe rocks. The book is filled with cartoons and illustrations, making it easy to learn about minerals in a fun and easy-to-understand way.

*Point 1: Full of cartoons and illustrations! *Point 1 Manga and illustrations!
Anyone can naturally enter the world of rock-hunting through the story cartoons featuring Mr. Shibayama and children. The book explains how minerals are formed and the actual procedure for finding stones in an easy-to-understand manner using cartoons and illustrations, so that those who are learning about stones for the first time or trying to find stones for the first time can feel at ease.

The illustrations* are by Minoru Inoue, a manga artist who has been active in numerous outing information magazines. [As he has demonstrated in his classic literature*history comic essay series such as "If Murasaki Shikibu were an office worker in a big company," he has a reputation for drawing specialized and complicated matters in an entertaining and easy-to-understand manner.

*Point 2: Selected stone-seeking spots that are safe for visitors with children! *Point 3
Dr. Shibayama, who goes out to riverside and seaside areas in Japan and abroad every week to search for stones, has selected 20 spots throughout Japan where you can easily take your children to search for stones.
Searching for rocks sounds fun, but with children, it is a hurdle to overcome. ...... If you are not sure about this, please take this book and go to the riverside or seaside with your children.

*Point 3: Illustrated map for easier access! *Point 4
Instead of the conventional GSI maps, Dr. Inoue has drawn illustrated maps. The map is moderately deformed and shows landmarks to the destination in an easy-to-understand manner, so it is recommended not only for children readers but also for those who are not good at reading maps.

*Point 4 Perfect for free research! *Point 5
Chapter 2 explains how minerals work and where and how they are formed in the ground, and Chapter 4 shows how to make your own mineral book, including how to polish, photograph, and summarize stones found on riverbanks and seashores. This book is also perfect for free research during summer vacation.
