In addition to being a container for soba-tsuyu (buckwheat sauce), it is a versatile vessel that can be used for dessert, soup, small bowls, mugs, steamed egg custard, and even as a vase or small container for small items. The Kutani five-color decorated bowls will add color to your dining table. Japanese Traditional Craft [Kutani Ware] Soba-Inokuchi, White Grain Cherry Blossom (K9-417) [Aochibu-style] This technique was popularized in the Taisho era (1912-1926). This is a sharkskin-like technique in which fine dots called "ao-grains" and "shiro-grains" are arranged on the base color.
