Description
Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, celebrates 360 years since the opening of the Kutani kiln. Kutani-yaki was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition and became famous throughout the world as Japan*Kutani, and has been collected by famous museums around the world, including the British Museum and the Louvre. Blue grain is a technique unique to Kutani that was started in Kutani during the Taisho era (1912-1926). It is a simple technique of heaping up the paint and continuously striking countless dots, but because of its simplicity, careful attention must be paid to the placement and size of the dots in order to create a good piece of art. The use of gold in some parts of the vivid Kutani is elegant without being too flashy, and is widely appreciated. Due to the retirement of the craftsman, this item is limited to the end of our stock. |
