Description
Ancient custom [morishio] and auspicious animals for good health *Business prosperity Morishio is made in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, one of the largest ceramic production centers in Japan. [Morishio" is a traditional Japanese custom of placing a "morishio" on either side of the door or inside the house to bring good luck, purify the body, and ward off bad luck, as well as to bring prosperity, good fortune, and good health to all visitors. Nowadays, they are placed not only at the front door, but also around the water in the toilet and bathroom, and in the bedroom, and can be easily incorporated into daily life by replacing them twice a month (1 day * 15 days). The transparent white porcelain bowls are made of carefully blended raw materials, and the morishio vessels (molds for making morishio) are polished one by one by skilled hands to create a rough finish that looks as if it has been heaped with salt. The plates are shaped like animals believed to bring good luck, and the shading gives them a three-dimensional look. *The meaning of each animal *Crane: [A crane is said to live for a thousand years] and to be a symbol of longevity and good relations between a husband and wife. *Tortoise: The hexagonal shape of the tortoise's shell symbolizes good omens, longevity, and good fortune. *Owl: The owl, which is actually written "owl" in Chinese characters, is also known as the "basket of good fortune" or "no hardship," and its ability to turn its head allows it to see its surroundings, making it a symbol for improved learning and prosperous business. *Rabbit: The rabbit jumps forward, which is a symbol of good luck, combining the image of "moon" and "luck". *Carp: It is said that the carp that climbed up the waterfall transformed into a dragon, and like the carp streamer, it is a symbol of success and success in life. *Neko: Cats have long been loved by people and are said to have special powers. [As represented by the "beckoning cat," it is a symbol that invites good fortune. |
