Description
Noi Sawaragi's [Post-Bijutsu Theory] (Bijutsu Shuppansha) has won the 25th Yoshida Hidekazu Award, which is given to those who have published outstanding criticism in the field of art. The award was selected from 186 candidates after a screening process by architect Arata Isozaki and music critic Toshihide Katayama. [Post Art Theory" is a full-length art critique that breaks down existing art genres, and is a 600-plus-page volume compiled from 14 installments of the "Bijutsu Techo" series written between November 2010 and December 2013, spanning the period of March 11, 2011. It is an ambitious work that attempts to reconstruct the concepts of art and art criticism itself by discussing in parallel events that are never referred to within the boundaries of genres. In his review of the prize, Mr. Isozaki said, "This is not just a study or a report, but a project that no one else can imitate.
