Description
Stole made of indigo-dyed cloth of the Mossi tribe. *The Mossi people The Mossi are an ethnic group living in the savanna region of West Africa, centering on Burkina Faso, and are well known for their lack of writing. Instead of writing, they use drum language, which is said to be able to convey complex messages and subtle nuances that cannot be conveyed in words. *Indigo Dyeing of the Mossi Tribe Handwoven on horizontal looms widely used in West Africa, narrow strips of cloth are sewn together horizontally to form one large piece of cloth. Yorubaindigo or Indian indigo is used for indigo dyeing, and the natural dyeing process is still carried on today. Women spin cotton into yarn, which is then woven into cloth by men. The indigo dyer then dyes the cloth. If you would like to order more than we have in stock, please contact us by e-mail. #Upcycle |
