Description
This is a beautiful chilled sake glass (guinomi) with the delicate cut of Edo faceting. It makes an elegant and gorgeous tableware for entertaining important guests or for special occasions. [About Edo faceting] Edo faceting is a cut glass using the faceting technique that has been handed down to the present day since the late Edo period. In 1985, it was designated as a traditional craft industry by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and in 2002, it was recognized as a national traditional craft. Today, faceted glass is also made overseas, and inexpensive faceted glass is imported. However, to be called "Edo faceted glass," it must be made by craftsmen with a solid lineage, and the materials must be of domestic origin. Edo faceting is a traditional pattern created by cutting two layers of glassware, one layer of colored glass on the outside and the other layer of clear glass on the inside. The contrasting colors of the colored glass and the beautiful luminosity of the glass can be enjoyed. Since each piece is handmade, the color and the size of the pattern may differ one by one. Please understand this in advance. *Edo facets are made in Japan. |
