通常、煤竹の製造法といたしましては、竹をボイラーの中に置き、 密封して蒸気を入れ人工的に「炭化」させます。
「炭化」することで、竹の水分と養分(糖分)を取り除きカビや虫の発生を抑えます。
また、圧力乾燥で繊維にコシを与えささくれが出にくい滑らかな表面に仕上げます。
