葛飾北斎（かつしかほくさい）
宝暦十年(1760)〜嘉永二年(1849)
生涯に3万点を超える作品を発表した北斎は、版画だけでなく肉筆浮世絵も傑出し、
また晩年には銅板画やガラス絵も研究するほど絵画に対して意欲的だった。
代表作とも言うべき『富嶽三十六景』や『北斎漫画』は世界的にも有名で、
北斎の作品はゴッホなど海外の印象派の画壇にも影響を与えた。
絵手本(画学生のための絵の教本)を多数発表し、絵画技術の普及や庶民教育にも
大きく貢献している。
