| What was going on in the editing room of a hit movie? While we see interviews with film directors and cameramen in various media, there are few opportunities to hear or see the voices of film editors. This book is a project inspired by this situation. Recently, there has been a flood of video content, including web videos, and people in a variety of positions, including amateurs as well as professionals, are editing video. While many people edit by hand or by feel, how do professionals in their own right deal with the materials they shoot and weave together the images they produce? In this book, we interviewed seven leading film editors who are active on the front lines of the industry. It is not a commentary on editing software or practical editing techniques. We will introduce each film editor's approach to editing and his or her way of thinking about editing, such as who professional film editors are, what kind of personalities they have, and what standards they have in mind when they edit. This book is a compilation of the serialization of the September 2017 - October 2018 issue of the video equipment magazine *Monthly Video Salon, but as original content for the book, it also features popular film and TV drama director Jin Oneda, who directed [Moteki] and [Bakuman], as well as [Bakuman.] The book also includes a conversation with Yasuyuki Ozeki, who won the Japan Academy Prize* for Best Editing for his work on [Bakuman] and [Moteki]. |

映画監督やカメラマンのインタビューは様々なメディアで目にするものの、映像編集者の声を見聞きする機会はあまりありません。本書はそんな現状から着想を得て、スタートした企画です。最近はWEB動画をはじめ、映像コンテンツが氾濫し、プロのみならずアマチュアを含め、様々な立ち位置の人々が映像編集を行なっています。手探りや感覚で編集する人々も多いなか、本職のプロはどのように撮影素材と向き合い、映像を紡ぎあげていくのか。本書では、第一線で活躍する話題の映画の映像編集者7人にインタビューを行いました。
