| A collection of illustrations commemorating the 45th anniversary of Seizo Watase's career Seizo Watase has been interested in painting since he was a child. After graduating from university, he worked for an insurance company while creating manga and illustrations, and made his debut as a manga artist in 1974, working as an office worker for a while. In 1983, he began serializing "Heart Cocktail," and his urban yet stylish style gained the support of many readers, leading him to choose to devote himself to drawing. Since then, he has published several comic books, including "Nana" (1992-1998), which depicts the subtleties of the four seasons and men and women, and "Wonder Cocktail" (2018?), which is currently serialized in a series. In addition, he has provided illustrations for fashion magazines, novel covers, record*CD jackets, corporate advertisements, calendars, and various goods. His unique sense of style has gained popularity both in Japan and abroad, and in recent years, combined with the 1980s boom, his work has been attracting renewed attention. This two-book set in a case is the first full-fledged collection of Watase's diverse illustrations. First, "JOURNEY: A Traveler of Colors," with its blue cover, contains Watase's vast collection of illustrations, carefully selected and grouped by category. It also includes an interview with Watase on his creative process and a long interview. SEASONS: Two Seasons" (with a red cover) contains all the visuals from Watase's original calendars produced* and published annually for more than 30 years, along with poems that accompany the pictures. The book provides a bird's-eye view of Watase's long career. わたせ氏は幼少時より絵画に親しみ、大学卒業後は保険会社に勤務する傍ら、漫画やイラストの制作を行い1974年に漫画家デビュー。しばらくはサラリーマンとの二足の草鞋で活動を続けます。1983年に「ハートカクテル」の連載を開始、都会的かつ洒脱な作風が多くの読者の支持を集め、画業に専念する道を選びました。以後、四季折々の情景とともに男女の機微を描いた「菜」(1992?98年)や現在連載中の「ワンダーカクテル」(2018年?)などのコミック作品を発表する一方で、ファッション誌や小説の表紙、レコード・CDジャケット、企業広告やカレンダー、各種グッズなどにイラストを提供してきました。その独自のセンスは国内外で人気を博し、近年は1980年代ブームと相まってその作品に再び注目が集まっています。
