| [As an original product of "Utsuwanomirai", the gray color fits in well with modern lifestyles. The result is an item that can be used not only as a tool but also as a vessel. [Is there a mortar that is easy to use for left-handed people?] This is the reason why we developed "HAMON KUSHIMEGAME" over a period of about 9 years. In ordinary mortars, when you turn it in a semi-clockwise direction, the force escapes along the lined up lines. However, [Hamon-Kushime] makes it difficult for the force to escape by hooking the food to the S-shape. Trial and error was repeated so that it can be scraped from either direction. Also, when turning in one direction, the food gradually rises to the top, but the S-shape prevents it from escaping. However, thanks to the S-shape, which prevents the food from escaping, it can be scraped on the spot and finished quickly. There are tougher porcelain materials for pottery that are mainly made of [stone], but there is a reason why we insist on using blue clay. It is because of the frictional force of the grindstone. Takada's blue clay has a mixture of fine and coarse particles, which gives it a rough texture. This leads to frictional force, making it easier to grind the ingredients. To take advantage of this feature, the combing process takes three times as much time and effort as the normal process, and is done entirely by hand. It could be easily produced by using a mold, but that does not bring out the best of the clay. 道具としてはもちろんうつわとしても使っていただきたいアイテムに仕上がりました。
そんな声をきっかけに、約9年かけて開発されたのがこの「波紋櫛目」です。
ですが「波紋櫛目」はS字に食材をひっかけることで力を逃げにくくして、
どちらの方向からも擦れるように試行錯誤が重ねられました。
それと、一方向に回していると徐々に食材が上に上がっていってしまいますが、
逃げにくいS字のおかげでその場で擦れるので早く仕上がります。
それはすり目の持つ「摩擦力」。
高田町の青土には細かな粒子と粗い粒子が混ざっているため、「ざらつき」が出ます。
これが摩擦力につながり、食材をよりすりやすくしています。
この特長を活かすために櫛目は通常の工程の3倍もの時間と手間をかけ、全て手作業で行われています。
型を使えば簡単に生産することもできるのですが、それでは土の良さを最大限に引き出すことがないのです。
絶妙な力加減によるすり目の深さや、どこから櫛目を入れ始めたのかわからないほど美しく目を惹く波の模様からは職人の熟練の技が感じられます。
