However, because of its subtle presence, it blends with light under subtle illumination, harmonizes with food and space, and becomes a part of the happy dining experience. [Blue and white porcelain vessels] Blue-and-white porcelain is made from porcelain clay made from white stones. It is made by coating an unglazed vessel with an iron glaze that turns blue when fired, and was originally fired in China. White porcelain is made by applying a glaze that becomes transparent when fired, and is called white porcelain when the whiteness of the vessel is utilized. Celadon glazed ware is made of iron-filled clay with a glaze that turns blue-green when fired. The molten blue glaze collects in the patterned areas, creating a beautiful puddle-like appearance. The disadvantage of celadon is that the glaze is applied very thickly, which puts a lot of stress on the vessel during firing, making it prone to cracking. Over time, the pottery introduced from China has merged with the sensibilities, history, and traditions of the Japanese people, and has become a representative industry of this country.
