Description
| Imabari's towel industry began in 1894, when Mr. Heisuke Abe wove a towel machine. Later, towels for the masses were developed in the first year of Taisho era (1912), followed by the production of high-end Jacquard weave in 1924. In the Showa period (1926-1989), modernization through computerization was promoted, and the company pushed forward to become a towel production center in terms of both quality and production volume. The Imabari Towel, nurtured over 120 years of history, has attracted many people not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world. |
