Description
| Imabari's towel industry began in 1894, when Mr. Heisuke Abe wove a towel machine. Later, towels for the masses were developed in the first year of the Taisho era (1912), followed by the production of high-end Jacquard weave in 1924. In the Showa period (1926-1989), modernization through computerization was promoted, and the company strove to become Japan's top towel production center in terms of both quality and production volume. Imabari towels, nurtured over more than 120 years of history, have attracted many people not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world. |
