Netsuke with lucky charms Seven Gods of Good Luck x Shozai Shinbou Beautifully and delicately carved with the designs of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune with great attention to detail. *Seven Gods of Good Fortune [Shichifukujin] The Seven Gods of Good Fortune are seven gods believed to bring good fortune in Japan, and each of them is said to have the divine power to purge seven kinds of misfortune and bring seven kinds of good luck. The designs on the background of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune are also derived from each of the deities, and are said to wish for even greater good fortune. *Inviting fortune and pushing toward treasure [shozaishinbou (treasure ship)]. Zaizaijinbao" means "to invite wealth and advance toward treasure. In China and Taiwan, it is a word of good omen that if one advances in pursuit of treasure, he or she will be able to accumulate wealth and prosper in his or her descendants. ●福をもたらす七柱の神様「七福神」
七福神は日本で信仰されている「福をもたらす」七柱の神様で、それぞれの持つ神力で「七つの災いを祓い、七つの幸運を招いてくれる」といわれています。七福神の背景に描かれている絵柄もそれぞれの神様に由来しており、より一層の開運を願います。
●財を招いて宝に向かって突き進む「招財進寶(宝船)」
招財進寶とは「財を招いて宝に向かって突き進む」を意味します。中国や台湾などでは宝を求め前進すれば財蓄や子孫繁栄に繋げることができるという吉祥の言葉として尊ばれています。また風水においても財運・事業運を呼び込む言葉と重んじられています。彫刻されている文字は招財進寶の文字を組み合わせてつくられており「宝船」をあらわすそうです。
●悪を退散させ魔を除ける「菱文様」
柘植の両端に彫られている「菱文様」は植物のヒシ(菱)の実または葉を図案化したものといわれています。このヒシ(菱)は菱形の両端に逆向きの2本の鋭いトゲを持ち、硬い実をつけることから「悪を退散させ、魔を除ける」とされています。
