内包物としてヘマタイト等が入り込み酸化したもの(酸化鉄)だとされ、その為、赤水晶/レッドクォーツと呼ばれます。また、内包物が内部まで入り込まず表面部分にだけ内包し赤からオレンジ色を示すものはタンジェリンクォーツと呼ばれています。
通常モロッコ産の赤水晶は真っ赤に覆われているため、水晶の中に光を通さず、水晶の透明感がわかりませんが、こちらは水晶の透明感よくわかる逸品です。
