The top is covered with a lid, and rice can be placed inside for offering. Glazed underglaze silver leaf Kanazawa foil (silver leaf), beaten to a few ten-thousandths of a millimeter, is applied to the surface of the porcelain and baked. On top of this, the glossy, transparent Japanese paints characteristic of Kutani Yaki are baked. This is an elegant traditional Kutani Yaki technique in which the soft and shimmering texture of the silver leaf spreads through the glassy pigment.
