| Kohana cohana Japanese handmade pin cushion needle holder sewing needle pile Kokeshi dolls have been handed down in mountainous areas throughout the Tohoku region. It is said that the kokeshi was first made at a hot-spring cure by a woodworker who made bowls and trays by sawing wood. The Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum is located in Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture, the birthplace of the Tsugaru kokeshi doll. The museum was established as a result of the "Kokeshi Museum Construction Movement" by local volunteers. The museum not only displays and sells kokeshi dolls, but also demonstrates their production, holds events, and focuses on developing new works. The museum has established ties with traditional kokeshi doll makers and artists not only from Tsugaru but also from all over Japan, and is introducing kokeshi dolls that are alive in the modern world. Of the 11 lines of traditional kokeshi dolls, the Tsugaru line is the youngest and has developed based on innovative ideas and a variety of molds, paintings, and techniques. It is said that Tsugaru kokeshi was influenced by Nebuta-e, a festival held in Aomori Prefecture, and one of its features is the colorful shades of black, red, green, yellow, and purple. [Kokeshi Needle Holder" was made by mixing the Okappa head, which is a characteristic of Tsugaru Kokeshi, with vivid colors. It is a palm-sized kokeshi with a cute innocent expression. The inside is a needle pile, containing three needles made by Mezoho Hachirobei Shoten. A magnet is attached to the bottom so that the needles can be picked up. Place it in your room or take it with you. It will gently accompany your needlework. *Wool needle holder.
