| *Reduced size picture scroll [National Treasure, Caricatures of Birds, Beasts and Humans, Ding scroll] * Kamakura period, Lent by Kozanji temple Rabbits and frogs wrestling, monkeys chasing each other. These dynamic animals play and leap about. Known as one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of Japanese painting, the National Treasure "Birds, Beasts, and Humans Caricatures" is a four-volume work that is loved by all. All four scrolls have been made into a collotype edition of reduced-size picture scrolls. You can follow the story and enjoy it, or you can spread out your favorite scenes and use them as interior decorations. It is also an ideal gift for overseas. The brushwork of this scroll is clearly different from the other three scrolls. The court events are depicted with large brush strokes. *What is collotype? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype expresses them with continuous gradation, which makes it possible to express them with fine detail that is closer to the real thing, as in a photograph.
