*Reduced folding screen [Sekigahara Gassen-zu Byobu] * Edo period, Lent by Hikone Castle Museum This is a series of folding screens of war-related masterpieces published by Convenience Store. [This folding screen depicts the Battle of Sekigahara [September 15, 1600], which is known as the "Battle of Tenka-September". It was painted in the late Edo period at the request of the Ii family. The drawing depicts the eastern army on the lower right and the western army on the upper left, and although it was made in the late Edo period, it accurately depicts the position of each general and his banner. The fact that the painting depicts the turning of Kobayakawa Hideaki indicates that the situation was as of midday of the day. |

便利堂が発行する、戦にまつわる名作屏風シリーズです。
「天下分け目の戦い」といわれる関ヶ原合戦<慶長5年(1600)9月15日>を描いた屏風です。江戸時代後期に井伊家からの依頼で描かれたものです。絵図は右下方に東軍を、左上方に西軍を描いており、江戸時代後期の作にもかかわらず各武将の位置や旗印などが正確に描かれています。小早川秀秋の寝返りを描いていることから、当日昼過ぎの情勢であることが判ります。
