Description
*Single-stroke letterhead [heavy artifact, dragon and clouds] by Kaihoku Tomomatsu*. By Kaihoku Tomomatsu, dated 1599 (Lent by Kenninji, Tokyo) By Kaiho Yusho Born into a samurai family in Omi (Shiga Prefecture) between 1533 and 1615. While studying the Kano school in Kyoto, he also studied Song and Yuan painting and learned reduced brush strokes from Liang Kai. He was a man of culture with a high level of knowledge of waka poetry, renga, and the tea ceremony. His representative works include the "Great Hojo (the main hall of Kenninji Temple)" and "Peonies" (a folding screen). |

海北友松 慶長4年(1599) 建仁寺蔵
海北友松(かいほう ゆうしょう)
天文2〜慶長20年(1533〜1615)、近江(滋賀県)の武家の生まれ。京に出て狩野派に学ぶ一方、宋元画を研究し、梁楷に減筆描法を学ぶ。和歌や連歌、茶の湯にも通じる高い教養を備えた文化人であった。代表作は『重文 建仁寺大方丈障壁画』『重文 牡丹図屏風』。
