福田平八郎 昭和9年(1934) 京都国立近代美術館蔵
福田平八郎(ふくだ へいはちろう)
明治25〜昭和49年(1892〜1974)、大分県生まれ。京都市立絵画専門学校に学び、第1回帝展に入選。京都派の代表的な画家として活躍した。初めは緻密な写生に基づく作風を示したが、独自の様式を見出し、単純化された斬新な表現に向かった。代表作は『漣』『新雪』『雨』。
