Nakamura Hochu

Born in Kyoto in 1819, Nakamura Hochu was a painter of Korin Ogata. 〜He was born in Kyoto and lived in Osaka, where he studied the painting style of Ogata Korin.

He was known for his mastery of shitoga (finger painting) and his interaction with the literati of Osaka. In Kyowa 2, he published a color-printed picture book [Korin gafu] and became known as an artist who painted in the style of Korin.

On the other hand, he loved haikai, and was widely associated with haiku poets in Edo, Osaka, Owari, and other areas.

[He painted many Rimpa-style paintings of flowers and grasses, and light-hearted haiga, etc. He was known as a painter who painted in the style of Korin.
