*Colotype long postcard [Thunder God] by Ito Jakuchu*.

This is a long and narrow sized postcard that maximizes the interest of the composition of the work. The collotype printing allows you to enjoy the beauty of the ink painting even more.

*What is collotype*?

While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype printing expresses them with continuous gradation, allowing for the expression of fine details that are closer to the real thing, just like a photograph.

Jakuchu Ito

Born in Kyoto between 1716 and 1800 (the first year of the Kyoho era and the 12th year of the Kansei era). He studied the Kano school while working for the family wholesale store, but at the age of 39, he handed over the reigns of the family to his younger brother, and began to devote himself to painting. While studying the ancient paintings of the Yuan and Ming dynasties and the decorative paintings of the Korin school of Japanese and Chinese painting, he also worked on sketching plants and animals, and was especially good at painting chickens. He was called "a painter of strange ideas" because of his unique style of painting. His best-known works are his "dynamic plant paintings.
