What is my country, in other words?

Translation by Kaori Fujita / Commentary by Eiichi Kido

Angela Merkel was the first female chancellor of Germany and was in power for 16 years from 2005. As a physicist from the former East Germany, she rarely gave flashy performances, and her words and actions were characterized by their matter-of-factness.
This book is a collection of three of her most impressive speeches, carefully selected by the editor-in-chief of a long-established publishing house in the former East Germany.
The Japanese edition of the book, with abundant additional notes and commentary, looks back on Merkel's administration and the state of a united Germany in the turbulent world situation through her speeches.
