| Window flap Kawaya shirt JAPAN / Cotton weather Ohmi bleached regular-collar relaxed shirt This shirt with a relaxed silhouette is made of Omi bleached(*) fabric, which has a wrinkled, deep look. The Japanese fabric is slowly wrinkled to bring out its natural cotton fluffiness and natural grain, and its elasticity gives it a fine texture. The flap, which normally serves as the lid of a pocket, is cut out in the shape of a flap to create a playful design as a pocket opening. The decorative placket design, also made of the same material, subtly accentuates the individuality of the garment. The seam allowance around the sides and arms is finished with [fold-down stitching], which is gentle to the skin because the seams do not touch the skin, and one of the particular points is that it is durable and can withstand repeated washing. The delicate design is finished with careful Japanese sewing techniques, using high quality fabrics made in Japan, and we are committed to [JAPAN MADE]. The name embroidery of [JAPAN] on the back of the yoke is a proof of the quality made in Japan that promises profound and high quality manufacturing. The relaxed silhouette that can be worn loosely and looks sleek, the atmosphere that comes from the good texture, and the design of a casual gimmick are all for adults who do not forget their sense of fun. *This item is made of fabric with the traditional technique [Omi Sarashi] cultivated in Aisho, Shiga Prefecture, which is famous for Omi Kamifu. The fabric is exposed to sunlight for about 10 days while being covered with lye made from ashes of trees and grasses dissolved in water, which has the effect of bleaching and softening the fabric, then placed in a pot, burned in lye and exposed to sunlight several times, and finally pounded with a wooden mortar, washed with water and exposed to sunlight again for several tens of days. Omi Kamifu is also used as a gift from the Hikone clan (Shiga Prefecture) to the Shogun Tokugawa family, and is known as a traditional luxury item. 仕様漂白効果と生地を柔らかくする効果がある「木や草で作った灰を水で溶かした灰汁(あく)」をかけながら10日間ほど日光に晒し、釜に入れ、灰汁で焚き日光に数回晒し、最後に木臼でつき、水で洗い日光にまた数十日晒して完成します。
彦根藩(滋賀県)から将軍徳川家へ献上品としても近江上布が使われており、伝統的な高級品として知られています。
