| Neem wood spoon. Neem (Japanese name is Indian cendan) has been used in India for thousands of years as a medicinal herb for detoxification in Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), and is known as a sacred tree. The seeds contain azetilactin, an ingredient that repels mosquitoes, flies, and other insects, and the extracted oil is well known in Japan for its insect repelling properties. In India, neemwood is planted as roadside trees, and many neemwood products are being made these days as eco-friendly materials.
