Description
*Heavy Kumkum Box This is an elegant and stately Kumkum powder (Indian colored powder to be applied to the forehead) box with a peacock motif. The peacock in the center is screwed on to lock the surrounding case. Kumkum is an integral part of Indian people's lives, and the container itself is also an ornament. The design and ornamentation are uniquely Indian, creating a wonderfully designed container. It is a cute box that can hold a variety of small objects, so you can use it to hold powder like the Indians do, or you can use it as an earring holder. It is suitable for storing small things carefully. *What is Kumkum Powder? When you visit India, you will notice a red mark on a woman's forehead. These are usually called bindis, which are sticker-type fashion items that can be put on and taken off, but these bindis originated from something called Kumkum. When you go to a temple in India, you may have had your forehead marked with a white or red powder, and rice pasted on top of it. So this is Kumkum. Kumkum refers to the colored powder used in festivals and religious ceremonies, and was traditionally made with turmeric and saffron. |
