Description
| This is a reproduction of a plate said to have been produced in the middle of the 16th century (1550-55), a time when new expressions unique to Ottoman Turkey were being created one after another, and the design was at the forefront of fashion at the time. It is characterized by the three-dimensional paisley-like leaves called "saz" protruding through the carnation flowers, a design that was one step ahead of the Ottoman style that was being perfected in the latter half of the 16th century. The original of this plate is in the collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
