Description
*Made from the berries of the bell tree This kalimba is made from the berries of the bell tree. Bell tree is a member of the tangerine family, and its fruit has long been used for medicinal purposes. In Hinduism, the tree has anecdotes of Shiva and Lakshmi, and its leaves are sometimes used as an offering to Shiva. In Indonesia, it is called [Buah Maja] and was the origin of the Majapahit Kingdom, the last Hindu kingdom in Indonesia, which once flourished mainly in central and eastern Java. Generally, the bark of the nuts tends to be thrown away, but this kalimba makes effective use of the surplus bark to create a wonderful musical instrument. *The soothing sound of the kalimba Originally a folk instrument native to Africa, the kalimba has become popular for its soothing sound, simple construction, and easy playing technique, and is now made in many Southeast Asian countries. Just playing it with your thumb is a lot of fun, and if you tune it properly, it can produce a really nice sound. For tuning, the length of the keys can be adjusted by loosening the Phillips screw on the bridge. The longer the key, the lower the note, and the shorter the key, the higher the note. *Here is a video of a customer playing. |
